POV — Copyright Policy (DMCA)
Last Updated: May 16, 2026
POV Media Group ("POV," "we," "us") respects intellectual property rights and expects users to do the same. This Copyright Policy explains how we handle copyright complaints under the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act ("DMCA"), 17 U.S.C. § 512, and similar laws.
This policy supplements our Terms of Service. Capitalized terms not defined here have the meanings in the Terms.
1. Reporting copyright infringement
If you believe content on POV infringes your copyright, send a DMCA notice to our designated agent with:
- Your physical or electronic signature
- Identification of the copyrighted work you claim was infringed
- Identification of the material on POV that you claim is infringing, with enough detail for us to locate it (e.g., bounty ID, submission ID, URL, username, date)
- Your contact information (address, telephone, email)
- A statement that you have a good faith belief that use of the material is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf
Designated agent (CEO to confirm before publish):
- Name: [Designated DMCA Agent]
- Company: POV Media Group
- Email: [dmca@pov.media or legal contact]
- Address: [Mailing address for formal service]
We may publish the agent's contact in the U.S. Copyright Office directory as required for safe-harbor eligibility.
2. What we do after a valid notice
If we receive a complete DMCA notice, we may:
- Remove or disable access to the reported material
- Notify the user who posted the material
- Terminate repeat infringers as described below
We are not obligated to act on incomplete or defective notices.
3. Counter-notification
If your content was removed and you believe it was a mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notification including:
- Your physical or electronic signature
- Identification of the material removed and where it appeared before removal
- A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief the material was removed due to mistake or misidentification
- Your name, address, telephone, and consent to jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address (or Wisconsin if outside the U.S., consistent with our Terms)
- Consent to accept service of process from the person who submitted the original DMCA notice
If we receive a valid counter-notification, we may restore the material after 10–14 business days unless the copyright owner files a court action seeking to restrain the user from infringing activity.
4. Repeat infringer policy
We may suspend or terminate accounts of users who are repeat infringers in appropriate circumstances, including users who repeatedly upload content subject to valid DMCA notices. We consider the severity, good faith, and counter-notification outcomes when applying strikes or bans.
5. Misrepresentations
Anyone who knowingly materially misrepresents that material is infringing, or that material was removed by mistake, may be liable for damages under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f).
6. Other rights
This policy does not limit POV's ability to remove content for Terms violations, safety, or legal compliance. Rights holders may also use in-app reporting where available; DMCA notices are preferred for formal copyright claims requiring safe-harbor process.
